Arsenal are worried that Danny Welbeck may not be able to play for a month after he got himself a groin injury during their goalless draw against Chelsea.
Welbeck will not be able to play against Slovenia and Lithuania during England’s final two World Cup qualifiers.
And while there is no news yet on when he would return as he will have another scan on Tuesday, Arsenal thinks that he may be out for a month.
This is going to be a big setback for Arsenal if the 26-year-old’s injury is serious as he has started the season pretty well. Although he may have Alexis Sanchez and Olivier Giroud to replace him as they already started on the substitutes’ bench, he will surely be missed.
Welbeck missed a good eight months last season because of a knee cartilage problem and he has now been injured again.
And while Arsenal may have a slight problem with Welbeck, the draw with Chelsea was regarded as positive after the thrashing away at Liverpool according to Aaron Ramsey.
“We needed this, we were due one and we showed that we are able to come away from home and compete against the best teams in the league,” Ramsay said.
“We can take a lot of positives from this and, hopefully, have a successful season.”
