Arsenal are reportedly leading the race to sign Pierre-Emerick Aubemayang and Jonny Evans in a combined deal worth £75 million.
Evans wanted to move possibly to Manchester City, but the club are not placing their interest in Athletic Bilbao defender Aymeric Laporte. Arsenal saw the opportunity and are attempting to make an agreement on a fee of around £20 million.
Transfer negotiator Dick Law was at present at Arsenal’s training ground on Tuesday as they work on a deal for Evans.
“You never know how close,” said Wenger.
“These are the kind of things that, at the moment, are one of the possible movements.
“We have other things in mind as well and we have plenty of opportunities in different positions. “We are busy on all fronts. Every opportunity we have to strengthen our squad, we’ll take.”
Arsenal are ready to pay Aubameyang around £50 million which is why the total was around a possible £70 to £75 million.
The potential arrivals of the two players are much welcome with Arsenal fans as they can greatly improve the Gunners squad.
