The Spanish giants who spent the summer transfer window to move Philippe Coutinho will now focus their attention to transfer Van Dijk this January instead.
But Barca are not the only one interested in the young player since Liverpool will also be bidding for the top-rated defender for £50 million.
Southampton were unhappy with Liverpool before when they pursued Van Dijk during the summer which forced the club apologised and backed off.
This time though the Saints might consider if the price is right. However, Barca may be an advantage since Southampton would rather sell the 26-year-old to a club abroad than any other Premier League rival.
Chelsea and Manchester City were also linked with a transfer, but there are no reports yet on how much they are willing to bid. As of now, it is also clear that Van Dijk is interested in moving to Anfield so the two clubs may not have a chance at all.
