Crystal Palace were not that successful in getting their players during the summer transfer window and it is now coming back to get them.
During Palace game against Tottenham, it is not hard to miss that they did not have a proper striker.
Over the balance of play and good chances they created, they at least deserved a point but they still came away with nothing as Paulo Gazzaniga saves and made some misses.
Spurs took most of these misses to their advantage and won.
Just when Palace thought their luck has finally arrived after their win over Chelsea and the late comeback against West Ham, they got defeated again.
Wilf Zaha and Andros Townsend did what they could and became important scorers against Chelsea and West Ham.
But it could also be seen that Zaha is not a striker and it showed during their game with the Spurs after he failed to throw himself at Townsend’s excellent cross, something a natural goalscorer would have done.
Palace are in need to find a striker in January as they cannot afford to have more wasted games where a good performance just goes to scramble by not having a natural centre-forward on the pitch.
Boss Roy Hodgson admits that they are in search of a free transfer striker but none of the names they find are not that good or just does not fit their current play.
Crystal Palace’s next game is with Everton and most are thinking that they could win against the Toffees given the latter’s current form. The Eagles cannot simply afford to lose as the games are just ticking away and they are cutting further adrift at the bottom of the league.
