Diego Lopez who helped Real Madrid in 2014 to lift the trophy is now being considered by Crystal Palace boss Roy Hodgson as a better alternative than Wayne Hennessey or Julian Speroni.
Hodgson, who took over after Palace sacked Frank de Boer in September, identified that the club’s last line of defence is the problem for their weakness this season.
The former England manager has been eyeing Speroni and Hennessey for the goalkeeper position since taking the position for Palace.
But both men have not been consistent which made Hodgson look elsewhere and now he is considering the 36-year-old Lopez for the position.
Lopez has had two spells at Real Madrid where he helped them win the title in 2007 and the Champions League three years ago.
He is now playing for Barcelona-based Espanyol on a season-long loan.
