This will be his last game as caretaker for the Toffees since Sam Allardyce will soon be confirmed as the new Blues manager.
The England boss has been met with a lukewarm reception from fans and argued that Everton could have targeted a higher calibre of candidate.
Marco Silva from Watford was among the top targets to replace Unsworth but he rebuffed the approaches which lead to Sam Allardyce’s arrival.
Despite the not so cool reception, Unsworth said that he supports the new boss of the club and that he will back him up.
“Sam has my full backing,” Unsworth said.
“Like any manager, he needs to be afforded time and patience and the backing of the whole football club.
“I’ve had a ten-minute chat with Sam Allardyce and I’ll speak to him in depth about the players sometime this week before continuing my role with the under-23s.
“Let’s be honest, we’ve underperformed all season. We certainly don’t want to be in the bottom three.
“We expect to be in the top half and pushing on, competing to win trophies and to get into Europe. We need to stick together.
“We need to give Sam the time to get us up the league and there’s a platform for that now.”
