Fernando Torres from Atletico Madrid may return to the Premier League this January as he plans to move to Newcastle or Southampton.
The 33-year-old just started two games this season, one in La Liga and one the Copa Del Rey. The striker may also have a low chance to have more game time in the second half of the season especially with the arrival of striker Diego Costa.
Torres’s representatives are letting Atletico know his desires to leave on loan in January so that Rafa Benitez or Mauricio Pellegrino can start giving Atletico a good package.
While the Spaniard plans to end his career with Atletico regardless of whether he plays or not before his contract ends in 18 months, but he plans to play as much as he can for the remainder of this campaign.
Torres and Benitez also worked together at his time at Liverpool but he transferred to Atletico in 2007 for £26.5 million.
The striker also knows Pellegrino during their time on Merseyside.
It would be good to see where the Spain international choose to go on a loan this January if Atletico would allow it.
