Luke Shaw has fallen out with Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho and is ready to move from the club in January.
The 22-year-old earns £130,000-a-week, around £7m-a-year and a number of Premier League and Europe are also lining up to sign him.
However, Shaw knows that he will not be able to get the same pay wage from other clubs and wants a settlement from the Red Devils.
Newcastle boss Rafa Benitez also launched an enquiry for Shaw but they were put off by United £20mi asking price.
United, on the other hand, are willing to pay £2 million to Shaw in a severance package so that they can sell him.
An Old Trafford source said: “Shaw will not make it easy for the club to show him the door in January.
“The club have one figure in mind while he has another for severance pay. They are way off of each other.
“He wants to get his career moving again, but he is not going to do United a favour if they do try to force him to leave.”
