Philippe Coutinho, who has already seen a couple of great players in his time has selected his own five-a-side team. Who made the cut?
Goalkeeper – Julio Cesar
“When I arrived at Inter Milan, he was for me the best ‘keeper. He did great for Inter. He helped me off the field. I arrived there so young, and it was difficult to be a long way from my family and friends, and he was one of the guys who helped me.
“He is very quick in his movements, and he is very good with his feet. He was a top ‘keeper.”
Defender – Lucio
“As well, when I arrived there he was at his best moment. They won everything with him, and he was great.
“He trained as hard as he played. He is a really nice guy, but when he gets into the dressing room for a game, he changes everything! You cannot talk with him because he is really focused on the game. He’s very serious and competitive.
“I played with Carra, he was a top defender. Similar to Lucio.”
Midfielder – Steven Gerrard
“That was easy to pick. One of the best I played with, I learned a lot from him. When I arrived here, it was like a dream to play with him, the guy I used to watch in Brazil, I used to play as him on the PlayStation – I didn’t tell him that!
“Stevie G is the best midfielder I ever played with. He was even better than I thought he would be. He was an idol for me, but when we were together in the dressing room and training, he was different – he was even better, great in passing, shooting, defending, and a big leader.
“He’s my captain, he’s the leader.
Striker – Neymar
“Not a bad player! He’s one of the best in the world now. I played with him many times, we used to go together in the national team U15, U16, U17. He was always different!
“He will win the Ballon d’Or one day, it is coming. He’s very skilful, in training you see there is no space, five players against him and he does one movement. It looks easy, but it is not. He likes to nutmeg players too – but he hasn’t got me yet!”
Striker – Luis Suarez
“He’s a top player. He’s a killer, that’s the word I use. He doesn’t miss. If he has a chance, it’s a goal.
“I played with a lot of good strikers, but for sure he’s the best one in front of goal. He also fights a lot, and that’s great.
“He’s really nice, a family guy. He helped me a lot when I arrived in Liverpool, he likes to be with his family.”
Manager – Tite
“He’s great, he’s doing great with Brazil, and for sure he’s one of the best who have coached me. I have learned a lot from him.
“The aim is to win the World Cup, we have to have that hope. Brazil is doing great now, we have recovered the confidence of the Brazilian fans, and for sure we look forward to the World Cup. We know there is time until then, but we have to do well at our clubs to be on the team.”
Philippe Coutinho is bound to leave Liverpool in January or the summer and it looks like he will team up with Luis Suarez again as part of his dream team.
