Arsenal striker Olivier Giroud is on the fence as he wants to stay at Arsenal but still wants to be chosen for the international squad at the World Cup in Russia this summer.
But in order for Giroud to play in the World Cup, he needs to play regular football which he is not doing in Arsenal.
The striker himself has admitted that he is desperate to join the World Cup this summer as this will be a large major tournament of his career.
“I have the World Cup at the back of my mind weekly, almost daily.” Giroud said.
“Each time I go onto the pitch, it’s to be more clinical and keep on track for the World Cup.”
Giroud was supposed to move to Everton last summer but changed his mind at the last minute and decided to stay at Arsenal. However, he was not given much of a playtime during this season which made him more eager to play first team because of the upcoming World Cup.
Everton still wants him since even Wayne Rooney promised the centre-forward a regular starter if he moves with them.
“I think we could do with another striker in,” Rooney said.
The one player for me who has to start is Olivier Giroud. He scores goals and every time he comes on he scores, he’s a handful and hard to play against.
“For me, if he starts games for Arsenal they are a better team.”
It still remains to be seen if Olivier Giroud would be tempted to move to Everton in January or if Wenger would allow another important Arsenal player to move out.
