Former Manchester United Paul Ince believes that the arrival of Alexis Sanchez at Old Trafford is responsible for Paul Pogba’s loss of form.
Results have not yielded up since Sanchez came and United failing to defeat in two of their last three Premier League outings.
“Since Sanchez joined the club, Pogba’s confidence and mood seem to have gone in the opposite direction to earlier in the season,” the former England midfielder wrote for Paddy Power.
“He looks like a totally different player.
“It’s probably due to the fact that, pre-Sanchez, he was the main man. He was the kingpin and the one everyone was talking about.
“But the arrival of Sanchez has taken the shine off him. What I would say is, at United, you’re all main men. You should all perform like that, too.
“Looking at the Newcastle game, you could see from his body language that he’s fed up. Whatever it is, it’s a problem that needs addressing.”
Now that Alexis Sanchez is gone at Arsenal and has now transferred to Manchester United, Arsene Wenger admits that he has more “clarity” and can regain focus on the club.
Sanchez, who is reported to have brought animosity towards his Arsenal team-mates, is happy with his move to United.
The transfer brought a resolution towards the future of Sanchez and Wenger believes that this also brought peace to his side as they were able to win over Chelsea 2-1 in the second leg of the EFL Cup semi-final.
“Uncertainty [has gone].
“We lost a great player, but of course it’s true that when the team doesn’t know what’s going on, there’s less clarity and less focus on performances.
“Now we know that we have to deal with that and we can get on by giving everyone a little bit more.”
Speaking about their win over Chelsea he said: “We gave them too much respect, too much distance,” he said. “We were maybe too scared to go for it.
“We suffered from that. We weren’t in the right positions on the pitch in the first half, we rectified that and took control of the game in the second half.
“In the first half we watched them play a little and they strolled through our lines, but in the second half we were tighter. The midfield came in the game more and we started to dominate.”
“I think maybe we got our formation wrong in the first 20, 25 minutes.
“They damaged us through middle, but we came back into it, we showed character and were the better team in the second half.”
Arsenal fans are sure that Shkodran Mustafi fired a shot at Alexis Sanchez as the 29-year-old is officially a Manchester United player.
The Chilean international completed a move to Manchester United and will wear the No 7 shirt at Old Trafford.
He has signed a four-and-a-half year deal £14 million a year after tax.
Alexis has wanted to move away from Arsenal since the summer and his final months at the club created tension and squad division in the side.
Fans knew something was wrong with the squad and these got further escalated by Mustafi’s tweet.
Alexis Sanchez has already signed with Manchester United and is confirmed the new No 7. The club has placed their attention on a new signing though and that is with Arturo Vidal.
Sanchez and Vidal play together for Chile and won the Copa America together in 2015 and 2016.
Vidal is still with Bayern Munich until 2019 but there are reports that he could join United in the summer.
However, reports are also indicating that United may have to compete with Chelsea and offers from China and Italy.
Vidal was also a team mate of Paul Pogba back when they were at Juventus.
Henrikh Mkhitaryan and Alexis Sanchez are now with their respective new clubs with the announcement of their arrival happening on Monday.
The two athletes have already done their medical in their respective new clubs with Sanchez is expected to be officially announced as part of the new team for Manchester United.
Mkhitaryan, on the other hand, is just completing a couple more demands before he can be announced. However, he is already in central London and is smiling as his transfer is almost complete.
Jose Mourinho insisted that he wants to provide competition among his Manchester United forwards, which is why he is excited about the arrival of Alexis Sanchez.
While Mourinho has plenty of defensive and midfield options, one of his top picks, Zlatan Ibrahimovic is indisposed again which only gives him three players to choose from.
“We need that extra internal competition,” he said.
The Chilean international already took his medical on Sunday and has already flew to United from Arsenal as he posted a video on his Instagram account at a private airfield.
Sanchez will wear the No 7 shirt at Old Trafford and may make his debut in the FA Cup against Yeovil on Friday night.
Arsene Wenger has finally revealed that Alexis Sanchez could officially become a Manchester United player today.
According to Wenger, the deal was likely to happen within 24 hours. If United wanted Sanchez to play against Burnley, they have to sign him within midday.
As part of the deal, Henrikh Mkhitaryan will also move to Arsenal although he was pictured training at Carrington on Thursday.
If it’s a possibility, it’s because I like the player,” Wenger said.
“We played many times against him when he was at Dortmund. He certainly appreciated the quality of our game and the way we play football. That’s why certainly he loves the club as well.”
Jose Mourinho will also have a press conference at lunchtime to make announcements.
Alexis Sanchez is out of contract with Arsenal this summer and big Premier League clubs are keen on having him which includes Manchester City, Manchester United and probably Chelsea.
City have already ended their interest with the player because of the high cost, which leaves United to be in the lead position to take the player. Chelsea, on the other hand, are reportedly entering the bidding.
Antonio Conte has also spoken good things about Sanchez and described any potential cut-price deal for the striker is a great opportunity.
However, the Chelsea boss has put down all rumours to the bidding of Sanchez as false. When asked if the Premier League champions were active to sign Sanchez, he said: “I don’t know, but I don’t think so.”
Conte also said that any move for the 29-year-old striker would be hypothetical.
“I like to talk about situations that could be real. This is not important to talk about Sanchez. Because he’s not our good problem, so why do I have to waste words for nothing?”
Chelsea are trying to make life difficult for Manchester United as they follow suit in getting Arsenal striker Alexis Sanchez.
Manchester City have already pulled out because of the hefty fee.
Sanchez has demanded a signing-on fee of up to £20m together with a $10 million bill for the striker’s agent, Fernando Felicevich. Arsenal’s valuation of the player is £35 million which would total the overall deal for a 29-year-old whose contract is expiring at the end of the season to be $65 million.
Sanchez would also be the highest-paid player in the Premier League as he wants to include £400,000-a-week wages, including bonuses.
United are now the front-runners and Chelsea may have to think twice if they want to get involved by the huge costs in trying to sign Sanchez.
It will be another important game for Pep Guardiola’s side as they want to maintain their amazing run.
Guardiola will also be answering team news, injury updates and even transfer news particular with regards to Alexis Sanchez.
The Arsenal forward has already agreed to terms with City, but recent reports indicate that Manchester United have also bid for the Chilean international.
City are still the favourite to land Sanchez and this will be discussed by Guardiola during his interview.
Other names City may also be taking are Shakhtar Donestk’s Fred and Jonny Evans from West Brom.
