Romelu Lukaka scores against Huddersfield but could he play against the big boys?

Romelu Lukaku

Romelu Lukaku played against Huddersfield Town and it looks like he used his brute strength to score against them.

Huddersfield could not just stop him. But despite his good performance on Saturday, some are still questioning his talent as he has only been able to score against teams that are in the bottom half.

Manchester United transfer him from Everton for £75 million but it looks like he still has no big moments until now.

While he also was able to muster four shots on target against big teams but it is not the goals that are lacking but performances.

Romelu Lukaku

So far, Lukaku has not made devastating counter attacks against bigger teams that prevented them from challenging Manchester City for the title.

It can be seen that he has the confidence to do so and he has the attributes of a great player, but he still does not have the killer instinct like what Sergio Aguero and Harry Kane possess.

If Lukaku cannot make the goals that matter, he may not be able to have fans remember him in ten years’ time.

For now, fans can celebrate the two goals he made against Huddersfield.

Sanchez arrival at Man Utd blame for Pogba’s slump form

Paul Pogba

Former Manchester United Paul Ince believes that the arrival of Alexis Sanchez at Old Trafford is responsible for Paul Pogba’s loss of form.

Results have not yielded up since Sanchez came and United failing to defeat in two of their last three Premier League outings.

“Since Sanchez joined the club, Pogba’s confidence and mood seem to have gone in the opposite direction to earlier in the season,” the former England midfielder wrote for Paddy Power.

“He looks like a totally different player.

“It’s probably due to the fact that, pre-Sanchez, he was the main man. He was the kingpin and the one everyone was talking about.

“But the arrival of Sanchez has taken the shine off him. What I would say is, at United, you’re all main men. You should all perform like that, too.

“Looking at the Newcastle game, you could see from his body language that he’s fed up. Whatever it is, it’s a problem that needs addressing.”

Premier League club fight to sign Lazio defender Stefan de Vrij

Stefan de Vrij

Lazio defender Stefan de Vrij has been linked with a move away from Italy for over a year now as his contract is set to expire on June.

Chelsea, Liverpool and Manchester United are in for another race to sign the 26-year-old.

Lazio, however, are confident that they will be able to give a new contract to De Vrij which will also contain a release clause of around £20 million.

In the current market, the fee is a good bargain and the top Premier League clubs are all to chase the striker.

There is news though that the Premier League trio are also aware that De Vrij is likely to agree to the new contract Lazio will give him in the coming weeks.

Stefan de Vrij is also attracting Juventus but prefers a move to England instead.

David De Gea set to demand pay increase after Alexis Sanchez

David De Gea

It seems that the huge pay increase that was given to Alexis Sanchez affected some great players and that is the same with David De Gea whose situation at Old Trafford could make him ask for more.

De Gea, has been heavily linked with Real Madrid and may be ready to demand at least £375,000 a week to sign a new deal.

The Spain international knows about Sanchez’ terms and since his contract will be ending next season, he knows how to also increase his worth.

Jose Mourinho also announced last month that they are willing to offer De Gea a new contract that will secure him at the club for his entire career.

Since Sanchez demanded a very hefty price for his worth, this has also completely altered De Gea and his people to view his next deal and how much he is really worth since Madrid is still interested.

Real Madrid are doubling effort to sign David De Gea

David De Gea transfer

David De Gea has long been a target by Real Madrid and reports are indicating that the club are doubling their effort to sign the goalkeeper.

Real want to have the goalkeeper transfer to them by the next season and Florentino Perez does not want the Spanish to escape again.

The top white club president wants to tie De Gea to them as quickly as possible and is willing to put a big offer to United just to move him.

While United have previously announced that they are not willing to sell and are even preparing a new contract for the player, Real still want to convince United to negotiate and are even hoping to include Keylor Navas and Kovacic in the transfer.

Manchester United target Nice midfielder Jean-Michael Seri after Alexis Sanchez

Jean-Michael Seri

Manchester United have officially completed the signing of Alexis Sanchez on Monday from Arsenal, but Jose Mourinho is not yet done as he now targets Nice midfielder Jean-Michael Seri.

Both Arsenal and Liverpool were linked with Seri just as United which they could get for £35 million.

Alexis Sanchez, on the other hand, has already pinpointed the position on where he wants to play for the club.

The Chilean want a position on the left where either Anthony Martial or Marcus Rashford usually fill, and down the centre.

Alexis Sanchez could be joined by Arturo Vidal this summer

Alexis Sanchez Manchester United

Alexis Sanchez has already signed with Manchester United and is confirmed the new No 7. The club has placed their attention on a new signing though and that is with Arturo Vidal.

Sanchez and Vidal play together for Chile and won the Copa America together in 2015 and 2016.

Arturo Vidal

Vidal is still with Bayern Munich until 2019 but there are reports that he could join United in the summer.

However, reports are also indicating that United may have to compete with Chelsea and offers from China and Italy.

Vidal was also a team mate of Paul Pogba back when they were at Juventus.

Jose Mourinho looking forward to Alexis Sanchez’s arrival

 Alexis Sanchez

Jose Mourinho insisted that he wants to provide competition among his Manchester United forwards, which is why he is excited about the arrival of Alexis Sanchez.

While Mourinho has plenty of defensive and midfield options, one of his top picks, Zlatan Ibrahimovic is indisposed again which only gives him three players to choose from.

“We need that extra internal competition,” he said.

The Chilean international already took his medical on Sunday and has already flew to United from Arsenal as he posted a video on his Instagram account at a private airfield.

Sanchez will wear the No 7 shirt at Old Trafford and may make his debut in the FA Cup against Yeovil on Friday night.

David De Gea mum on new deal with Manchester United

David De Gea

David De Gea does not want to answer about his signing a new deal with Manchester United but admitted that he is happy at Old Trafford.

Jose Mourinho announced earlier this week that they are prepared to give their goalkeeper a new contract to keep him at the club for the rest of his career.

De Gea’s contract with United is still until 2019 with the option to extend for another year.

When asked about his future with United, the Spain international deflected the questions and concentrated on answering about their upcoming games.

David De Gea

“We have lots of games between now and the end of the season and the first thing we need to think about is Burnley this weekend,” De Gea said.

“It’s all about getting your head down, focusing, working hard, competing in training, keeping fit and picking up points.”

“Just being part of this club is special in itself,” De Gea said. “Being a player and a part of this club is special, so when you get to wear the shirt, you go to away games, that’s something you are always proud of and is very special.

“Being part of such a great club like Manchester United fills you with emotion and you gradually realise how much the club means to the fans and the people who work here.

“They really live for the game, so that does become part of you and you can only appreciate that having spent time here.”

De Gea also credited his former coach Emilio Alvarez for his performances.

“We have known each other for a long time and worked together when I was a lot younger,” De Gea said. “He knows what to say, how to deal with me if there are any doubts entering your mind, he has helped me an awful lot.

“He knows me as a player and as a person and there is a special feeling that exists between us, a really good working relationship, so I think if you are looking for a reason why things are going well this season this might be one of the reasons behind it.”

Alexis Sanchez transfer update at Manchester United

Alexis Sanchez

Arsene Wenger has finally revealed that Alexis Sanchez could officially become a Manchester United player today.

According to Wenger, the deal was likely to happen within 24 hours. If United wanted Sanchez to play against Burnley, they have to sign him within midday.

As part of the deal, Henrikh Mkhitaryan will also move to Arsenal although he was pictured training at Carrington on Thursday.

If it’s a possibility, it’s because I like the player,” Wenger said.

“We played many times against him when he was at Dortmund. He certainly appreciated the quality of our game and the way we play football. That’s why certainly he loves the club as well.”

Jose Mourinho will also have a press conference at lunchtime to make announcements.
