Sanchez arrival at Man Utd blame for Pogba’s slump form

Paul Pogba

Former Manchester United Paul Ince believes that the arrival of Alexis Sanchez at Old Trafford is responsible for Paul Pogba’s loss of form.

Results have not yielded up since Sanchez came and United failing to defeat in two of their last three Premier League outings.

“Since Sanchez joined the club, Pogba’s confidence and mood seem to have gone in the opposite direction to earlier in the season,” the former England midfielder wrote for Paddy Power.

“He looks like a totally different player.

“It’s probably due to the fact that, pre-Sanchez, he was the main man. He was the kingpin and the one everyone was talking about.

“But the arrival of Sanchez has taken the shine off him. What I would say is, at United, you’re all main men. You should all perform like that, too.

“Looking at the Newcastle game, you could see from his body language that he’s fed up. Whatever it is, it’s a problem that needs addressing.”

Manchester United are changing to positively suit Paul Pogba

Paul Pogba

Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho hailed Paul Pogba after winning against Stoke City 3-0 at Old Trafford on Monday.

The 24-year-old is enjoying a good campaign, giving three goals and nine assists in 13 league games.

Mourinho admitted that his side is changing to better suit their star midfielder and even said that United could become Pogba’s team.

“He was moving the ball fantastically well, with long passes changing the direction and creating problems for the opponent,” Mourinho said.

“He had an assist and if he had scored the free-kick with the last shot of the game, it would be really a reward for him.

“I think he is happy with the way the team is playing and he’s happy because the team is changing the profile and the profile is going more in his direction.”

Paul Pogba explains his decision to snob Real Madrid

Paul Pogba admits that he was also given an offer by Real Madrid prior to his £89 million move to Manchester United.

The France international is the most sought-after talents in football after being one of the best players in Juventus for four years.

With the door opened to a big-money move, La Liga giants Real wanted Pogba for their own. However, Pogba made an easy decision to return to Manchester United than move to Madrid as he was already familiar with United’s academy system.

“To be honest, Real Madrid came to me and I was thinking to go there, and I was thinking to go to Manchester United too,” Pogba said.

“But I always felt it in my heart. My heart told me to come back here, I don’t know why I didn’t know what was going to happen.

“But I did it, and I don’t regret. I never regret my choice.”

After moving to United, Pogba became a leading figure for the club as they were able to secure the Community Shield, EFL Cup and Europa League triumphs.

Paul Pogba finally speaks after receiving a red card against Arsenal

Paul Pogba

Paul Pogba has finally spoken after being silent regarding his dismissal during their win against Arsenal on weekend.

The France international received a red card in the second-half after studs tackle on Hector Bellerin.

This resulted in Pogba to miss their next three games, starting with Manchester City on Sunday.

Jose Mourinho argued that Pogba’s tackle was unintentional although they have accepted the decision.

Pogba already spoke regarding the incident and claimed he would never give Bellerin a tackle like that.

“I didn’t really speak after the game – I didn’t have time – but I think Hector, I know him as well, and I would never give him a tackle like this,” said Pogba.

“Unfortunately for me, I thought he would put his feet in and he was in a position that was a disadvantage for me, so I did it.

“It looks very bad, but the intention wasn’t like that. They had the decision, the referee, got the red card and that’s football.”

Kevin De Bruyne does not believe in Paul Pogba’s karma

Paul Pogba will not be playing at Old Trafford on Sunday and will miss the match against Manchester City.

Kevin De Bruyne

Fans believe he was hit by instant karma after he wished most of City’s players suffer injuries but Kevin De Bruyne does not believe in karma after assessing Pogba’s absence.

During Pogba’s BBC interview, he clumsily suggested that he hoped key City players would get injuries so that United could claw the eight-point deficit they need to catch up with City.

The French international was sent off with a red card after treading on Hector Bellerin during their 3-1 win against Arsenal.

With Pogba out of the way, fans who were expecting a showdown between Pogba and De Bruyne will be disappointed as this will not happen.

Paul Pogba

A number of City fans labelled the United midfielder as a karmic occurrence but De Bruyne was in no mood to discuss Pogba’s comments and insists he does not want an injury on a fellow player.

“I don’t believe in that s***,” he told reporters. “I’m a very straightforward guy.

“If someone believes it is karma then okay. Everyone has their right to their opinion.

“I don’t want anyone to get injured. You want to play against the best teams and the best players.

“He can say whatever he wants. I don’t care. We just have to be focused on whatever we’re doing.”

Although City have set and reset a number of club best marks, De Bruyne insists an on-going record of 20 consecutive wins in all competitions.

“I’d prefer to be 11 points ahead than five or eight because it’s better and means we almost have a four-game advantage,” said the Belgium international, who is himself suspended for the Champions League dead rubber against Shakhtar Donetsk on Wednesday.

“It’s a good gap but doesn’t mean anything. Football goes very quick. It’s a busy two months when things can change but the way we’re going is good and we need to continue that.

“Yes [20 wins in a row is a real achievement] but it doesn’t matter if you don’t win anything at the end of the season. Nobody will care about it then.”

“If we don’t win anything at the end of the season, are you are going to talk about the 20 wins we have now? It is phenomenal but obviously, we want to win in the end.”

Although Pogba may be absent during the game against City, De Bruyne is still unsure which way the Red Devils would play.

“We’ll play the same there. We never change,” De Bruyne added. “We try to do the things that we are good at. That gives us the best chance to win.

“United are one of the biggest clubs in the country. They’re a massive team, they want to win the title.

“They spent a lot of money, like a lot of the big teams. They will be up for it and we will be up for it. Hopefully, it’ll be a good game.”

Paul Pogba wanted Manchester City players to get injured but Pep Guardiola’s response is classy

Paul Pogba

Paul Pogba made some fans mad after he jokingly said he wants some Manchester City players to get injured to allow other teams to catch up with them.

Right after his comments, Pogba got red-carded after a stamp at Arsenal and ruled him out of the top-of-the-table clash.

Fans said, it was instant karma and that he received what he got.

Pep Guardiola, on the other hand, responded with sadness as the midfielder would not be able to play against them.

“Hopefully no one will have injuries,” he said.

“I would like Paul to [be able to] play against us because I like to face team with the best players as possible to see if we are able to beat them.

“I am sure it is an expression and he doesn’t want our players to get injured.”

Manchester United miss chance to qualify for Champions League

Manchester United vs FC Basel

Manchester United’s defeat against FC Basel have made them miss the chance to qualify for Champions League last 16 and Paul Pogba’s substitution could have triggered that.

United have greatly paid the price for substituting Paul Pogba which resulted in their devastating defeat.

United only needed a point to qualify for the knockout phase when they travelled to Switzerland having winning four games from their opening four group games.

Tony Cottee

Tony Cottee believes that Paul Pogba’s absence made United miss their chances.

“It was possibly a mistake to take Pogba off, he was probably their best player,” he said.

“Mourinho made changes and brought on Marcus Rashford, Nemanja Matic and Zlatan Ibrahimovic, but Pogba was the one in midfield who was making things happen.

“They did lose the midfield in the last 20 minutes, but United should have had the game wrapped up.”

Although Cottee thinks that United can still get the job done when they play against CSKA Moscow on Matchday 6, but their defeat against Basel will still hunt them in the end.

“It’s a devastating result for Manchester United,” he added.

“They could have got the point or won the game and coasted through the last game of the group. But now they’ve got to put in a professional performance [against CSKA].

“Tonight’s result should not make any difference in terms of qualification, with the CSKA game at home. They should go through now, with a point certainly enough.”
